Clean Intake Air. Controlled Noise. One Integrated System.

BBM Akustik Technologie specializes in the engineering, manufacturing, and commissioning of small and medium-sized air intake systems for gas turbines and compressors used in power plants and petrochemical facilities.

Drawing on our extensive experience and the expertise of our TFA specialists, we also provide ongoing maintenance, retrofitting, and support for air intake systems of all sizes.

Filter Systems

Static Filter Systems

A static air intake system consists of bag filters, fine filters, weather protection hoods, droplet separators, bird screens, anti-icing systems, inertial separators, pressure drop monitoring control systems, bypass flaps, shut-off louvers, roller shutters, and other supporting components.

Self-cleanable pulse filter systems

A self-cleaning pulse filter system typically includes weather hoods, moisture separators, and single-stage pulse filter elements, along with optional high-efficiency safety barrier filters. The cleaning process requires compressed air and is facilitated by manifolds, valves, blowpipes, and pulse-control systems.

Accessories

Anti-Icing-Systems

During this process, a portion of the compressed air is extracted directly from the compressor and routed to the front of the filter housing.

This cold air is then blended evenly with the hot air to ensure uniform temperature mixing and prevent the formation of ice or snow within the filtration system.

Heat Exchanger

The warm-water preheating system supplies the gas turbine with preheated combustion air at low operating temperatures. It also protects the filters from icing when operating under freezing conditions. The system heats the intake air through heat exchangers, raising its temperature above the ice-forming dew point.

Evaporative Cooler

The evaporative precooler lowers the turbine’s combustion air temperature through adiabatic cooling of the intake air. By decreasing the air temperature, the density of the intake air is increased and, therefore the mass flow of air through the turbine rises. This improves turbine efficiency with negligible power consumption. The evaporative cooler is typically installed downstream of the air filter system.

Upstream Cooling

The evaporative precooler reduces the air temperature of the combustion air of the turbine by adiabatic cooling of the intake air. Reducing the air temperature increases the intake air density and, consequently, the mass airflow through the turbine. Efficiency is increased with negligible power consumption. The installation of the upstream cooling is replacing the weather hoods of a typical air intake system.

Droplet separator

The drift eliminator is an exclusive droplet separator constructed using Aluminum or polypropylene (PP). These profiles are installed onto the filter module. The intake air stream is accelerated and redirected within the profiles in a way that makes it impossible for entrained water droplets to follow, due to their inertial force. The droplets are separated from the airflow and drained downward by gravity. The droplet separator can be heated to prevent ice formation.
